Whaler's Rest

Par four, 388 yards. The fairway tilts hard left toward the cliff. The green sits on a small finger of land that ends, with no pretense, in seventy meters of open Atlantic.

"It is not a green you bail out from." — A. Mackelroy

Course No. 02 / Saltwood Links

Cliffs

A second course, opened 2019, on the lower marshland that fronts the lighthouse channel. Wider corridors, faster greens, and a final five holes that play directly with the tide.

Suited to thinkers. Punishes the brave more than it rewards them.

Heron's Foot

Par three, 165 yards. The green is an island in the salt marsh; on a high tide, the only way home is over water. On a low tide, you can see exactly how much trouble you've avoided.

Best played with a club you trust and a wind you don't.

Course No. 03 / Saltwood Links

The Nest

A thirteen-hole short course laid over the high bluffs north of the inn. Holes range from 86 to 178 yards. Played in twos and threes, in any order, with no scorecards and no carts.

Designed to be walked in ninety minutes. Most guests walk it twice.

Course No. 04 / Saltwood Citrus

Karoo & Roost

Two championship eighteens routed across reclaimed citrus groves and the rolling sand ridges left by the old quarry. Karoo is the wider of the pair, played low and into the prevailing wind; Roost climbs the high ground, with greens cut into the ridgeline and bunkers that read as shadow long before they read as hazard.

Walking encouraged. Carts permitted. Played as a pair, in either order.

The Hawk's Cradle

Par four, 412 yards. Plays uphill across two bunker complexes set diagonally to the line. The green is perched on the ridge and falls away on every side. There is no run-up shot. There is no bail-out.

"You play the ridge or it plays you." — Coore-Vorhees

Course No. 05 / Saltwood Citrus

The Squeeze

A ten-hole short course threaded between the old packing house and the south grove. Holes range from 78 to 215 yards, with greens contoured tighter than the championship pair and tees set close enough that a brisk round can be turned in under an hour.

Played walking. No tee times. Drinks cart on the eighth.

The Wedge

A nine-hole par-three on the lit practice flats north of the clubhouse. Built for the back end of the day — open until ten, played in shorts and street shoes if you like, with tees from sixty to one hundred forty yards. The greens are firm, the cups are cut twice a day, and the only club that matters is the one in your hand.

Walking only. No carts, no caddies, no scorecards required.
